【讀書筆記】王爾德《自深深處》23
1891年，處在寫作生涯巔峰期的王爾德遇見了阿爾弗雷德·“波西”·道格拉斯(Alfred "Bosie" Douglas)，兩人很快成為了同性戀人。四年后，因為這段“不敢說出名字的愛”，王爾德被判“有傷風(fēng)化”罪而入獄。在獄中，王爾德開始反思從前的生活，思索痛苦和人生的意義，藝術(shù)和愛的真諦，最終將那些痛苦的淚水都化作優(yōu)美而深沉的文字，寫成了這封名為"de profundis"(從深處)的長信。
作者簡介：奧斯卡·王爾德(Oscar Wilde, 1854-1900)，英國維多利亞時代著名作家，“唯美主義運動”的領(lǐng)軍人物，倡導(dǎo)“為藝術(shù)而藝術(shù)”(Art for art's sake)。他的代表作有戲劇《莎樂美》(Salome)《認真的重要性》(The Importance of Being Earnest)，童話《快樂王子》(The Happy Prince) 《夜鶯與玫瑰》(The Nightingale and the Rose)，小說《道連·格雷的畫像》(The Picture of Dorian Gray)，以及書信《自深深處》(De Profundis)等。

I have now got as far as the House of Detention,?have I not? After a night passed in the Police Cells I?am sent there in the van. You were most attentive?and kind. Almost every afternoon, if not actually?every afternoon till you go abroad, you took the?trouble to drive up to Holloway to see me. You also?wrote very sweet and nice letters. But that it was not?your father but you who had put me into prison, that?from beginning to end you were the responsible?person, that it was through you, for you, and by you?that I was there, never for one instant dawned upon?you. Even the spectacle of me behind the bars of a?wooden cage could not quicken that dead?unimaginative nature. You had the sympathy and?the sentimentality of the spectator of a rather pathetic play. That you were the true author of?the hideous tragedy did not occur to you.

我現(xiàn)在講到拘留所了，是不是？在警察局關(guān)了一夜后，用車就把我送到那里了。你對我很關(guān)心很好。幾乎每天下午，如果不是真的每天下午的話，都不辭辛苦地駕著車來荷洛威看我，直到你出國。你還寫信來，說些很好聽的話?？墒?，讓我進監(jiān)獄的不是你父親而是你，此事從頭到尾都該你負責(zé)，是由你起的事，為了你的緣故，被你所害，我才身陷此地：這一點，你從來就沒明白過。甚至是看到我被鎖在木制囚籠中，也無法喚醒你那死去的、沒有想象力的心性。作為一出頗有點令人傷心的戲劇的觀眾，你看了同情動情，但卻沒想到自己便是這一出駭人聽聞的悲劇的真正作者。

1、attentive?a.注意的，專心的；關(guān)心的，體貼的

2、take the trouble 費力，花工夫，不辭辛勞
【舉例】We must thank him for taking all the trouble.?我們應(yīng)該感謝他出了不少力。
You didn't take the trouble to consult the dictionary.?你沒花工夫去查字典。
3、sth.?dawn upon/on sb. 某人理解(領(lǐng)悟、想到)了某事
【舉例】The truth finally dawned on him.?他最終明白了真相。
It dawned on me that I had left the oven on.?我突然想起我忘了把烤箱關(guān)掉。
4、pathetic a.可憐的；可悲的；微弱的，可憐巴巴的
【舉例】The kitten was so tiny and pathetic. 那貓崽小得惹人憐愛。
It's pathetic that he has sunk so low. 他墮落到這種地步，真是可悲。
A pathetic fire flickered in the hearth. 壁爐里微弱的火光在閃爍。
5、sth. occur to sb.?某人想起某事
【舉例】It never occured to me that you did that.?我從沒想過這事兒是你干的。
