China's star hurdler Liu Xiang clocked his first sub-13 second result since 2007 at the 2012 Diamond League's Shanghai stop on Saturday. And now has won the men's 110-meter hurdles during the Eugene Diamond league meet.

Liu Xiang clocked a time of 12'87''. He bested 3 other top competitors, all from America - US record-holder David Oliver, world champion Jason Richardson and Aries Merritt. One of China's biggest sports stars has made himself an early favourite to win gold in London.

This would make up for a withdrawal following an injury during the Beijing Olympics. This is Liu's fourth time winning gold in Eugene. But current world record holder Dayron Robles of Cuba didn't compete because of a delayed visa. He will, however show up in New York.

The Diamond League is made up of 14 of the best invitational track and field meetings in the world. Eugene is the forth stop. The next meeting will be held in Oslo, the capital of Norway.
