Ser Waymar met him bravely. “Dance with me then.” He lifted his sword high over his head, defiant. His handstrembled from the weight of it, or perhaps from the cold. Yet in that moment, Will thought, he was a boy no longer, but a man of the Night’s Watch.
威瑪爵士勇敢地迎上前去?！凹热蝗绱耍覀兙蛠?lái)較量較量罷?！彼e劍過(guò)頭，語(yǔ)帶挑釁。雖然他的手不知因?yàn)橹亓炕蚴强岷澏?，威爾卻覺(jué)得在那一刻，他已經(jīng)不再是個(gè)軟弱怯懦的少年，而成了真正的守夜人男子漢。

Dance with me then. dance這里不是指舞蹈，而是指兩人的身體移動(dòng)的匹配，速率節(jié)奏和移動(dòng)方式等。這里是一種引申的說(shuō)法，不能從字面上來(lái)解釋。就如同漢語(yǔ)里說(shuō)，來(lái)我們玩玩吧(比試比試)。

defiant,違抗反叛，不屈服, refuse to obey.

trembled， tremble, 指輕微的顫抖或搖晃。

The Other halted. Will saw its eyes; blue, deeper and bluer than any human eyes, a blue that burned like ice. They fixed on the longsword trembling on high, watched the moonlight running cold along the metal. For a heartbeat he dared to hope.

halted, 原形halt，和stop等義。新聞報(bào)道時(shí)常用這個(gè)詞，表示阻止?fàn)顟B(tài)持續(xù)，The government has failed to halt economic decline.

dared to，原形dare to，它們是一組，是情態(tài)動(dòng)詞，后接動(dòng)詞原形。不過(guò)現(xiàn)在也常傾向于直接使用dare而不使用to 的用法， dare (to) do sth.

They emerged silently from the shadows, twins to the first. Three of them? four? five? Ser Waymar may have felt the cold that came with them, but he never saw them, never heard them. Will had to call out. It was his duty. And his death, if he did. He shivered, and hugged the tree, and kept the silence.
此時(shí)它們靜悄悄地從陰影里冒出來(lái)，與第一個(gè)異鬼長(zhǎng)得一模一樣，三個(gè)……四個(gè)……五個(gè)……，威瑪爵士或許能感覺(jué)伴隨他們而來(lái)的寒意，但他既沒(méi)看到它們、也沒(méi)聽(tīng)見(jiàn)它們的聲音。威爾應(yīng)該警告他，畢竟那是他職責(zé)所在。然而一旦出聲，他便必死無(wú)疑。于是他顫抖著緊抱樹(shù)干，不敢作聲。

emerged，emerge 顯現(xiàn)，暴露，浮現(xiàn)出。真相大白， Eventually the truth emerged.

文章中這個(gè)詞用得非常好，指異鬼們從黑暗的地方由不明顯慢慢到明顯的過(guò)程，有動(dòng)態(tài)畫(huà)面的感覺(jué)。

The pale sword came shivering through the air.
慘白的長(zhǎng)劍厲聲破空。
