conceal, hide, screen

這些動詞均含“隱藏，隱蔽”之意。

conceal : 正式用詞，多強調(diào)有目的、有意識，巧妙地進行隱藏或隱瞞。

During the talk among the comrades, nothing should be concealed.（同志間的交談應(yīng)該是開誠相見。）

hide : 普通用詞，既可指有意地隱藏，又可指無意或偶然地藏匿。

My younger brother hides behind the door.（我弟弟躲在門后。）

screen : 指把處于被發(fā)現(xiàn)的人或物掩蓋起來，使其不被發(fā)現(xiàn)。

A floppy hat screened her face.（一頂有邊的軟帽遮住了她的臉。）

concentrate, focus

這兩個動詞均有“集中，聚集”之意。

concentrate : 指把人或物集中在一起，也可指把精力或注意力集中于某一事物上。

The general decided to concentrate his forces near the capital.（這位將軍決定把他的部隊集中在首都附近。）

focus : 側(cè)重指把光、熱、射線等集中于一點，也可指把思想或精力等集中于某人或某事情上。

The beams of light moved across the sky and focused on the aircraft.（光束穿過天空，射向飛機。）
