這些動(dòng)詞均有“管理、支配”之意。

control : 含義廣泛的常用詞，指對(duì)人或物施以約束或控制的力量。

A captain controls his ship and its crew.（船長(zhǎng)管理他的船和船上的船員。）

direct : 側(cè)重行使領(lǐng)導(dǎo)或指導(dǎo)權(quán)。

The general manager directed the company through a difficult time.（總經(jīng)理帶領(lǐng)公司渡過(guò)了難關(guān)。）

govern : 側(cè)重指運(yùn)用任何控制的權(quán)力來(lái)統(tǒng)治或管理一個(gè)國(guó)家、一個(gè)社會(huì)或一個(gè)部門，暗含能力和知識(shí)的運(yùn)用。

A king governs in that country.（那個(gè)國(guó)家由國(guó)王統(tǒng)治。）

manage : 強(qiáng)調(diào)對(duì)具體事務(wù)機(jī)構(gòu)進(jìn)行管理，有時(shí)含受權(quán)管理或處理之意。

She managed a clothes shop two years ago.（兩年前她開了一家服裝店。）

rule : 強(qiáng)調(diào)用絕對(duì)或獨(dú)裁的權(quán)力來(lái)管理或統(tǒng)治。

The King ruled his people well and wisely.（這位國(guó)王賢明地統(tǒng)治著他的臣民。）

supervise : 側(cè)重指運(yùn)用本身的或被授予的權(quán)力來(lái)管理、檢查工作，含監(jiān)督意味。

Tomorrow he will supervise all the pupils taking the English examination.（明天全體學(xué)生考英語(yǔ), 他將擔(dān)任監(jiān)考。）

administer : 指官方的或正式的對(duì)事務(wù)的管理。

They had the right to administer their own internal affairs.（他們有權(quán)料理自己的事務(wù)。）
