different, various, diverse

這些形容詞均含“不同的”之意。

different : 普通用詞，強調(diào)事物間的區(qū)別或本質(zhì)的不同。有時側(cè)重對比，不著重差別。

Different nations have different levels of technology.（不同的國家的科技水平不同。）

various : 通常強調(diào)種類的數(shù)目。

The products we sell are many and various.（我們出售的產(chǎn)品是各式各樣的。）

diverse : 語氣較強，指性質(zhì)完全不同，著重顯著的區(qū)別。

Trying to find a single coherent account of events in a country as diverse as Russia is risky.（試圖在一個像俄羅斯這樣多元化的國家里尋找對重大事件的一致性敘述是危險的。）
